WALLETS & PAYMENTS

Your money.
Your signature.

A DueByte wallet holds the keys that authorise your payments and checks the network evidence behind your balance.

YOUR ACCESS

Three identities. Three purposes.

01

Wallet key

Controls spending. Protect it with an encrypted wallet backup and its password. Your public address is safe to share.

02

DueByte account

Provides access to company applications and their status. Email recovery restores account access; it does not decrypt a wallet.

03

Operator identity

Signs the company application and node-registration actions. Its encrypted registration backup is separate from your money.

START USING DUEBYTE

From an address to a payment.

  1. 01

    Create or restore your wallet

Install DueByte from Downloads, connect and open the local wallet. Create a new wallet or restore a compatible encrypted backup. Keep a separate copy and its password.

  2. 02

    Receive DUBYT

A new wallet starts at zero. Give the sender your public address and agree the network and amount. Receive funds from an existing holder; creating an account or node does not fund the wallet.

  3. 03

    Check before signing

Verify the recipient through your established business conversation. Check the amount, total fee and available balance in the wallet. Your signature authorises this particular payment.

  4. 04

    Verify the outcome

Use the payment identifier to follow its state. Treat a payment as complete only after the wallet verifies settlement. A screenshot or a message from the sender is not settlement evidence.

PAYMENT STATES

Know where your payment stands.

StateMeaningYour next action
QueuedThe instruction is saved locally; network acceptance is not established.Keep the wallet connected and inspect the same payment.
ReservedFunds are committed to this payment while the required work completes.Wait for settlement or the protocol expiry outcome.
SettledThe accepted outcome credits the recipient.Keep the payment identifier with your business record.
ExpiredThe reservation ends under the signed expiry rules; an expiry fee can apply.Check the verified available balance before making another payment.

Available, protected and reserved balances have different meanings. Protected funds remain locked until the network condition is satisfied. Reserved funds cannot be spent again while that payment is unresolved.

WALLETS & RECENT HISTORY

Every wallet should verify.

Wallet participation centres on checking authenticated recent history, retaining the evidence needed to detect rollback, and helping make public evidence available. A response from several servers is not sufficient: the signatures, chain links and state commitment must agree.

01

Check locally

Verify the policy, checkpoint, continuation and state before showing a spendable balance. Preserve the last verified position across restarts.

02

Share public evidence

The evidence-sharing model requires bounded storage, bandwidth limits and protection of wallet secrets. A shared proof must be independently checkable.

03

Keep authority distinct

Evidence can reveal a contradiction; wallet counts cannot settle it by majority vote. One person can create many addresses. Consensus follows its own authorised quorum.

The protocol rules define evidence retention and recovery after an extended absence. Keeping recent evidence is not a requirement to store every transaction since the network began.

KEEP ACCESS

Recover without duplicating a payment.

A connection drops during payment

Reconnect and inspect the original identifier. A missing reply does not prove failure. Repeating the same accepted request is different from signing a second payment with a new identifier.

Restore on another computer

Use the encrypted wallet backup and its password with the matching network. Wait for authenticated history. Accepted unfinished reservations can be rediscovered from verified state; a local draft that never reached the network is not a network record.

A recipient asks for a refund

A settled transfer is not undone by closing the wallet. A refund is a separate payment agreed with the recipient, with its own address, amount and fee.
